Last day for students to turn in all 1st semester work & assignments
December 21-January 4 - Winter Break
JANUARY
Tuesday, January 12 - End of First Semester
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear LCS at Selma Families,
As we draw closer to Winter Break and the end of Semester 1, we wish to encourage students to persevere with the last remaining assignments and to communicate often with their teachers regarding grades. We have one more week until break, so please attend all of your classes and complete your work so you can enter Winter Break feeling accomplished and relaxed.
Staff Update
We have been diligently searching for a new 5th grade teacher and I am pleased to announce that we have found a wonderful addition, Katie Cho! Katie has roots in the LCS community and has experience in elementary schools around Hollywood. She has supported students during distance learning, so she fully understands this new learning environment. Katie is ready to jump in to create an inclusive, supportive classroom space for our students. She is also fluent in Korean. We are thrilled to welcome Katie to the LCS community!
Please click here to read Katie's message.
Keaton, who has been our long term sub for Jenna, will continue through Winter Break to support the students and families during this transition. He will spend time informing Katie where students are in the curriculum and there will be a transition period with Keaton teaching and gradually transitioning to Katie. Thank you to Keaton for helping us during this time!

Winter Drive-Thru - Postponed!
We have had to make the tough decision to postpone our winter drive-thru due to the increase in the number of Covid cases and our wish to follow all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of all our community members during these difficult times. We plan to revisit a possible drive through in the new year, once it is safer for all of us to do so.

However, if the past 8 months have taught us anything, it is that a helping hand and a generous spirit can bring people together in the toughest of times. So please consider donating to The Midnight Mission (TMM), a local organization that has served families and children in Los Angeles for over 100 years.

Assembly!
Wednesday, December 16
We will not be having the Winter Drive-Thru, but we will have an Assembly!
Our last Assembly of 2020 will be a festive occasion with student performances and artwork! Please join us from 8:30-9:00 with the zoom link in the calendar.
We will not have a parent coffee following Assembly.
We’re so thankful Larchmont Hollygrove grandfather and infectious disease expert, Dr. Katona, was able to join us for a school-wide parent coffee on Friday morning. He spoke about a range of topics from the importance of testing....

Yearbook Photos

Selma yearbook needs your photos!
Although our school looks very different this year, we still want to capture the school experience and unique memories of our Selma students. Whether it’s working on an enrichment project, playing a fun PE game, dressed up for Spirit Week, or doing a Garden/ESY activity—show us how you're making the best of distance learning. Parents and students: Send us your best shots!
Email your photos or links to: lcs.selma@gmail.com.
*Include the following information if possible: Event/activity, teacher/class, and grade level of student(s) in the photos.
Photo Submission Guidelines:
Images should be high resolution: 300 dpi and at least 1 MB each in size.
Most phone camera photos work fine. Just make sure you send them as JPEGs in their original size. Multiple emails are okay! (*Tip: Wipe the smudge off your phone camera lens!)
Photos must be of Selma students/teachers/staff during the 2020-2021 school year.
We can only accept photos that are in focus, hi-res, and have good lighting.
Self-editing prior to submission is greatly appreciated!
