FROM YOUR SCHOOL LEADER

Dear Larchmont Fairfax Families,
First and foremost, we hope everyone is staying healthy and is remaining as hopeful as possible despite the recent disappointing news on COVID numbers.
We, too, are trying our best to model that positivity and Larchmont spirit as much as possible, particularly for the kids!
For those of you that have been with us in previous years, you know that we have a tradition of celebrating the story of Stone Soup each year at our Harvest Festival and in our classrooms. The European folk story embodies so many of the life lessons and principles that we hold so dear at Larchmont - the value of sharing and the ensuing happiness that comes from that, empathy, friendship, teamwork, and giving back to the community.
As we continue to forge on with the academics as we normally would, we're also want to try to lift everyone's spirits a bit during these trying times by keeping the spirit of Stone Soup alive this year! As you know, we held a Community Group meeting this week to read the story of Stone Soup and to symbolically "give" something back to our community. This week, all of our enrichment classes will focus on Stone Soup related activities, and we will reach the culmination of our examination of Stone Soup with a campus Stone Soup/Winter Fest Drive Thru food collection and Stone Soup lunch giveaway for our entire community on December 16th! While we can't all be together in person in the way we would like, we wanted to give our community and students something to look forward to before embarking on Winter break. Our fourth grade campus leaders are also designing a Spirit Week for our campus for the final week before Winter break. We hope this brings some additional joy to our kiddos!
On another note about looking forward to the future, we held a parent coffee with the principal and assistant principal of our Larchmont Selma campus yesterday. If you weren't able to make it and would like to learn more about our middle school program and the transition to our middle school campus (whenever that might be for you and your child), you can join future campus tours by signing up via the Admissions tab on our website. Please check for future tour dates.
We look forward to these final two weeks of learning and festivities before Winter break, and we wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Your partners,
Andi, Mersedeh, & the LCS Faculty and Staff

LARCHMONT PARENT COFFEE
We have a very special guest scheduled for this week's (12/11) upcoming Friday Morning Coffee. Dr. Peter Katona, not only a clinical professor of medicine in infectious diseases, but also the grandparent of two current LCS Hollygrove students, will join the whole Larchmont community to discuss the current health crisis we are all facing. Dr. Peter Katona is a nationally recognized expert in infectious diseases and bioterrorism. Please click here to learn more about Dr. Katona and his work. Please note that the coffee for 12/11 will be held from 8 to 9 AM which is earlier than our usual time. The ZOOM information is below and we will send out a reminder later in the week. In the meantime, mark your calendars as you do not want to miss this special opportunity to talk to Dr. Katona!

ATTENDANCE IN ENRICHMENT CLASSES
We want to remind everyone that students are expected to attend all classes during the school day, including enrichment classes. We have noticed a decline in attendance during enrichment classes. Our enrichment program is a central part of the Whole Child Larchmont education and a key part of our overall instructional program, particularly because so much of what we teach is integrated across content areas. In addition, as mentioned at the beginning of this current school year, schools have been instructed to return to pre-COVID mandates regarding progress reports and progress monitoring. Students who are not attending classes will have that information reflected on their progress reports.
Please ensure that students are in attendance for the entire school day and for all classes during distance learning. Thank you for your support.

LARCHMONT TECH SUPPORT FOR YOUR FAMILY

OUR TECH CONTRACT WITH TECHABEE WILL BE ENDING IN JANUARY! BE SURE TO REACH OUT NOW WITH ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE!!!
Larchmont has contracted with a tech firm called TechaBee. We have hired this firm to help support families and teachers by answering your tech-related questions, supporting your technology, and managing your devices. TechaBee is here to help with tech issues regarding Chromebooks, Zoom, technology apps, and much more! We have taken this action to be as responsive as we can as a school to your tech needs during this distance learning period.
The help desk is available 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. During COVID-19 families are also free to email the help desk at any time!
Email all requests to techabee@larchmontcharter.org, CC belinda@techabee.com & terence@larchmontcharter.org
This email address (techabee@larchmontcharter.org) forwards straight to the TechaBee help desk so we can more quickly resolve your tech issue. Please be sure to cc Belinda and Terence so we can keep track of your tech request.
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS

Teachers will be taking attendance every day in their live Zoom classes. On Wednesdays, the completed independent work will indicate that your child is present asynchronously and your child will be marked present accordingly. If your child is going to be absent (both synchronously and asynchronously) for any reason, please email your teacher and ffxattendance@larchmontcharter.org.
To receive credit for attending asynchronously (not live/zoom) students/parents must both:
Log into Seesaw or view the teacher's assignments via their websites to access and complete assignments AND
Complete the Distance Learning Attendance Certification Form.
Please notify your teacher & email ffxattendance@larchmontcharter.org when you know your student cannot attend synchronously or asynchronously.
Questions about attendance? Email our office manager, Tess, at maritess.trillo@larchmontcharter.org.
