2008/2009 PARENT COMMITTEES Family Committee The Family Committee is responsible for hosting the monthly Town Hall Meetings and overseeing the Room Parent Volunteers. Volunteer Committee The Volunteer Committee assists in contacting, coordinating and placing volunteers for any and all LCS needs. LADAC (Language and Diversity Advisory Committee) LADAC (Language and Diversity Advisory Committee) is responsible for proposing and analyzing resolutions related to issues of importance to English Language Learners and their families which includes outreach within the school community and addressing issues related to cultural sensitivity and diversity. Enrichment Volunteer Committee The Enrichment Volunteer Committee coordinates parent assistance to enrichment teachers during enrichment hours, to free up TAs and Teaching Interns for critical planning time. Volunteering in enrichment classes is a great way to help the kids and the school. In-class parent volunteers will also have the opportunity for a training session on Cool Tools with Teacher Alissa Goler. All in-class volunteers also need a TB test (required by law). Behind The Hedge Newsletter Behind the Hedge is the four-color quarterly LCS newsletter that features articles about school activities and events and accompanying photos, as well as coverage of important school issues, leadership philosophies and perspectives. Written primarily for parents, Behind The Hedge is also distributed to the broader LCS community and visitors to our campus. Lunch Committee The Lunch Committee is dedicated in finding the most healthy and delicious lunch possible that allows us to meet guidelines and cost for the Federal Free and Reduced priced lunch program. Green Team The Green Team works with teachers and children to create and help maintain the school garden areas, and increase environmental awareness in the community. Hospitality Committee The Hospitality Committee organizes, coordinates and works fundraisers and events related to food and drink: Bake Sales, Teacher Institute meals, Receptions for new staff and volunteers, Food at other Fundraisers such as the Holiday Bazaar, Staff baby showers, Events for the community. Technology Committee The Technology Committee is an important component of the education program and is responsible for: - Creating and supporting long-range technology plan - Supporting short-term Tech plan each year - Supporting Tech through-out the school for adult and child use - Ok’ing systems and use Arts and Enrichment Resource Committee This committee identifies parents, teachers and specialized programs in the Arts, Sciences, and other areas that can contribute to LCS’ educational programs. The committee specifically responds to requests from the principal and the teachers regarding specialists to assist in project-based classroom work. This committee will work closely with the volunteer committee when identifying parents who can offer their particular skills in the classroom. Lost & Found Lost & Found make sure that all the lost and found is on display at Community Sing every Friday morning for parents to rifle through. Unclaimed Lost and Found items are given to Good Will (on Vine) at the end of the month. Disaster Preparedness The Disaster Preparedness Committee designs and update a disaster relief plan, and acquires disaster relief supplies. Teacher & Volunteer Appreciation Committee The purpose of this committee is to take a moment or two to let the teachers and staff know how much we truly appreciate all that they do every day to make LCS not just a functional school, but a nurturing environment for learning. LCS T-shirts and swag This committee is in charge of designing, ordering and selling Larchmont Charter logo gear.
