Fairfax Academic Specialist/ELD Coordinator
Let me introduce myself. I am Tatiana Ignatenko, an Academic Specialist and ELD Coordinator. I have Multiple Subject Clear Credentials and CLAD Certificate. I believe that all the students can learn and make progress and I always motivate my students to do their best in order to become lifetime learners and be successful in their carriers. Though I have been teaching for over 30 years, I am eager to learn about new approaches, strategies, games, and tools to make my lessons more efficient and fun at the same time.
Where did you go to school and what was your major?
I graduated from the Institute of foreign languages (the current name is The Linguistic Academy in Moscow, Russia. My major was teaching English and French as second languages.
What is your highest degree held?
Bachelor of Arts
Why did you want to be a teacher/work in education?
My father was a Math teacher at a high school in Moscow, Russia. I loved to play school when I was a little girl and I always wanted to work with kids.
How long have you been teaching/working in education?
All in all over 30 years: 15+ in a public school in Russia and 16 years in an elementary public school (LAUSD).
What is your favorite thing about LCS?
It is going to be my 3rd year in LCS. I like that all the people teachers, students, and their parents are very friendly. We all work as a team, and I feel that my work is appreciated.
What was your favorite book when you were the age of your students?
A book of Russian folk tales.
