Classes begin April 18, 2016 and end June 10, 2016

Registration deadline is Thursday, April 14, 2016. Class confirmation will be emailed to parents before classes begin.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION before registering for a class:

Payment for enrichment classes is due immediately upon registration. Enrichment class fees are NON-refundable. If your student misses an Enrichment class due to illness or family emergency, we are NOT able to refund any portion of your payment.

Families who have been pre-approved for the FREE or REDUCED lunch program may register their child for one class at the discounted price. Additional classes will be charged at full price. 

Most classes require a minimum number of students for enrollment. If the class does not meet the minimum number of required students, you will be notified and get a FULL refund or select a different class. All classes have a limited number of spaces and scholarship spots available.

MONDAYS

Run Club with Coach Jonathan
Time:  7:45am-8:20am
Dates:  04/18 to 06/06 (NO CLASS ON MAY 30TH)
Cost:  $10 (7 weeks)
Grades: (4th to 8th)

You’ll be surprised how great you feel all day when you start your mornings off with Run Club. Come get active, hang out with friends, and RUN…RUN…RUN…

 

Band with DAVE duMONDE
Time:  3:45pm-5:15pm
Dates:  04/18 to 06/06 (NO CLASS ON MAY 30TH)
Cost:  $120 (7 weeks) NEW STUDENTS ONLY
Grades: (4th to 8th)
Min and Max: (5 - 15 students)

The Band rehearses every Monday from 3:45 – 5:15pm. It is an instrumental ensemble comprised of a rhythm section (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards), plus horns and potential for strings. The goal of our ensemble is to learn and perform music of many contemporary styles while learning basic music theory and musicianship skills. Performances will regularly occur at school assemblies and other events, both on and off campus.

Because of limited open positions/instruments the Band is open to students by audition only. Students are encouraged, but not required, to make a commitment for the entire school year. Opportunities to audition for band occur at the beginning of each trimester. (If you are a returning student, you do not need to register again). New and returning students are welcome.

 

Track and Field Intramural with Coach Jonathan
Time:  3:45pm-4:45pm
Dates:  04/18 to 06/06 (NO CLASS ON MAY 30TH)
Cost:  $110 (7 weeks)
Grades: (4th to 6th)
Min and Max: (5 to 15 students)

Track and field is a sporting activity in which it combines various sporting contests based on the skills of running, jumping, vaulting and throwing. The running event, include sprints, middle and long distance races and hurdling. Jumping events will include long jump, high jump and triple jump.  So come on out and join us as we prepare for our spring “Meet” races.

 

HW Club with Maria and Summer
Time:    3:45pm - 4:45pm

Homework club offers a supportive environment for your child to work. We are here to help students gain self-confidence and achieve the best results in their classrooms. Focusing on the vital subjects such as English, Math, Social Studies and Science, we will help your child develop learning skills and exceed expectations. Homework Club gives your child the tools they need to understand their homework and perform better at school.

 

TUESDAYS

Yoga with Vanessa B.
Time:    3:45pm - 4:45pm
Dates:   04/19 to 06/07

An imaginative series that combines simple yoga poses that exercise social, sensory and motor skills while increasing flexibility and encouraging self -expression. Students will explore yoga through animal adaptations, storytelling by using their bodies, drawing and music.

THURSDAYS

Vocal Workshop
Time:    1:45pm – 3:00pm

Cost:     $120 (8 weeks) NEW STUDENTS ONLY

The Vocal Workshop rehearses every Thursday from 1:45pm – 3:00pm. It is an ensemble that includes beginning to advanced ­level singers. The goal of the group is to learn and perform music of many styles while studying good vocal technique and developing ear training, musicianship and life skills.

Vocalists will have several opportunities during the school year to perform in various settings as a large chorus and smaller vocal groups. Some students will have the opportunity to sing with the LCS Band as a lead and/or background vocalist.

Art, Art, Art with D.J. Kami
Time:    1:45pm – 3:00pm

Our famous art class with D.J. Kami is back. We will be working on old and new projects as well as different kinds of art...help yarn bomb the fence, make book covers, holiday cards, and more! This class is a continuation of last trimester’s class…. 

 

Chess with Mr. Kenton Fees
Time:    1:45pm – 3:00pm
Dates:   04/21 to 06/09
Cost:     $120 (8 weeks)                             
Grades: (4th to 8th)
Min and Max: (5 -14 students)

Chess Mates Advanced Chess will give those students that know how to play chess an opportunity to hone their decision making and concentration skills with chess matches and varied gameplay alongside other veteran players and classmates. We will pursue a better chess game with a focus on chess concepts, tactics and strategies using puzzles, arithmetic and geometry. We will learn to read and record chess matches with algebraic notation and play through some historic matches of chess masters, past and present.

Chess is one game that everyone can play and enjoy while continuing to improve over a lifetime. The benefits of chess have shown to include mathematical development, analytical decision-making, concentration, social skills and sportsmanship to name a few. Having fun while challenging ourselves and our friends with solid chess-play and hopefully instilling a lifelong love of the game is always the goal. 

 

FRIDAYS

Blackbird Dance Presents! Kids Hip Hop, Jazz and Funk!
Time:  3:45pm-4: 45pm

Learn some fun and funky moves to go along with the popular music with which kids are already familiar. Our classes are designed for age appropriateness in movement, music selection and enhancement of motor skills, coordination, confidence and creativity! Kids will learn how to properly stretch and warm-up their bodies, control their movements with rhythmic timing and gain skills in Hip Hop qualities they may see in tv, films and videos. Our pro teachers are a hit with kids and have much personal experience to share in the joy and excitement of Dance at your school!

 

Mad Science Extravaganza
Dates:   04/22 to 06/10
Cost:     $120 (8 weeks)   
Grades: (4th to 6th)
Min and Max: (5 -18 students) 

In this electrifying session of Mad Science, mini-scientists will experiment with a variety of fascinating topics. Students will get a charge out of our plasma balls, and explore the states of matter with dry ice and gooey slime. Race a balloon rocket, and become a junior engineer working with axles, levers, and wheels. Discover the fundamental forces of gravity and inertia and experience a thrilling water rocket launch in this Mad Science Extravaganza!
