Sarah Perkins, Principal, Selma Campus. Sarah Perkins began her teaching career out of state in public and private schools. She has two master's degrees in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development and in School Administration. After teaching for 10 years in a wide range of grade levels, including 3 years at Larchmont Charter, Mrs. Perkins stepped into the leadership role at Selma.
Where did you go to school and what was your major?
I went to college at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in 2010 in Elementary Education. In 2014, I completed a Master's degree in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development. I graduated with a second Master's in Education Leadership in 2017.
What is your highest degree held?
I currently hold a Master's degree.
Why did you want to be a teacher/work in education?
I have always loved education and working with students. Learning is a passion of mine and I believe in learning something new everyday. Encouraging students to be lifelong learners is a goal of mine. I am thrilled to be working in this new role as principal because I will be able to help teachers to further develop their craft. I also have the opportunity to partner with parents and our community.
How long have you been teaching/working in education?
My career in education has lasted 10 years so far.
What is your favorite thing about LCS?
One of my favorite things about LCS would be the desire to improve. Parents, students, and staff are all striving for Larchmont to be the very best.
What was your favorite book when you were the age of your students?
I enjoyed reading fiction books.
