Dear Families & Friends of Larchmont Charter School,

Thank you for your interest in our 2009-2010 LCS Pledge Drive! In just a few short years, LCS has evolved into an extraordinary place of joy and learning and become a respected member of the Los Angeles educational community. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our families and friends.

As a parent-founded, independent charter school, only 70% of our funding comes from the city, state, and federal governments. That means, each year, through intensive effort, the school must raise the other 30%. The annual Pledge Drive is our most important means of raising funds. Launching this fall, the 2009-2010 Pledge Drive must raise $410,000 to help cover our total funding gap -- an average of $1,800 per child for our 452 K-6 students. With state funding cuts taking a devastating toll on education in California, I cannot overstate the importance of giving at your maximum capacity this year. Ask your friends and family to join us and check for employer matching programs. All donations are, of course, tax deductible.

Every gift counts and, the good news is, every gift brings immediate results! Your contribution will be used during the current school year to help pay the rent on our campuses, sustain and attract highly qualified teachers, maintain small class size, and ensure the presence of a teaching assistant in every classroom. Because of you, we can continue our exceptional arts enrichment and physical education programs, purchase curricular books and materials, and provide professional development for our faculty.

Thank you for your generosity and for your ongoing commitment to our extraordinary school. With your support, our commitment to diversity, dedication to community, and belief in the empowerment of constructivism will continue to flourish, for our children and for generations to come.

Sincerely,

Dolores Patton
Principal
