I was born and raised in Southern California, where I grew up playing soccer, running track & field and cross-country throughout high school. I’ve always been a lover of the outdoors, and continue to go on as many camping trips/backpacking trips as possible when time opens up for me and my husband. My new year’s resolution was to complete 52 hikes (one hike per week) by the end of the year, and I’m currently at 36. Next Summer, I plan on completing the Camino de Santiago and the John Muir Trail in Summer 2017!
Where did you go to school and what was your major?
I graduated from Cal State Northridge, and majored in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Physical Education.
What is your highest degree held?
Why did you want to be a teacher/work in education?
I wanted to change the idea of Physical Education. P.E. is about teaching students not only how to live a healthy lifestyle, but about showing them that staying active is fun and a necessity to serving your whole being. Some P.E. student’s experience is just about assessing how well they kick a ball, or if they can run the mile under 10 minutes. Physical Education is about motivating kids to move, finding what inspires them, and helping them mold their own identity as an athlete.
How long have you been teaching/working in education?
2015-2016 will be my 5th year! woohoo!
What is your favorite thing about LCS?
The amazing talent and creativity of the teachers that work here.
What was your favorite book when you were the age of your students?
Catcher in the Rye.
