Selma Elective Teacher - Music
I grew up in a home filled with music and theater. I started playing drums earlier than I can remember and began formal lessons in 4th grade. While playing at a high school jazz festival, I received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, which convinced me to begin pursuing a career in music. I spent the next several years attending school and playing professionally in Boston, New York, the Caribbean and Paris, France before relocating to Los Angeles. I played, toured and recorded with an array of musicians and bands, from jazz, gospel and reggae to hip hop and rock, until deciding to add my passion of becoming an educator to music. I became an elementary music teacher in Los Angeles City Schools and went on to become the Director of Children's Ministry at Oasis Church, before settling in at Larchmont as the music teacher to grades 4 - 8.
I love the beach, bicycling and the outdoors and take every moment possible to enjoy it with my wife Jennie and our two boys. Music will always be my passion. Passing on a love for the creative arts to young people is a highlight of my music career!
